Yasmin Dar
I talked about my experience of involving a group of learners that I taught in my current teaching context (the ELTU, University of Leicester) who not only carried out an Exploratory Practice (EP) classroom research project, but also reported their findings at the first UK based Exploratory Practice workshop for teachers and students (07/07/12, organized by the Research SIG at the University of Leicester), where Dick Allwright, Simon Gieve, Judith Hanks and Assia Slimani-Rolls were also present. I explained the steps I took in setting up my learners’ classroom research project despite facing the challenges of working within the constraints of an English for Academic Purposes course syllabus on a 10 week upper intermediate pre-sessional course (April -June 2012). My presentation aimed to support other teachers who may be interested in setting up similar EP classroom projects.
