This poster summarises an ongoing project at King’s College London on the impacts of alternative (processfolio) assessment in EAP using an action research methodology. The poster depicts the rationale for the project, namely the questionable impact of current testing procedures in King's pre-sessional EAP on students' sense of agency in assessment practices and their focus on the writing product over process. The research explores the extent to which processfolio encourages more active participation, both with the writing process and practices of assessment for learning. I also present initial research findings, outline the assessments implemented and illustrate the methods of collecting and analysing data. This is an example of teacher-based research within the practitioner's own local context, but is intended to expand on practitioner reflexivity to encompass critical emancipatory action research principles for wider engagement with colleagues and stakeholders in assessment.
