Scholarships for members to attend Research SIG events

The deadline has now passed for applying for a £250 scholarship to attend the Research SIG one-day workshop led by Zoltan Dornyei on Questionnaire Design and Analysis on 10 February 2012 . The scholarship has been awarded to ReSIG member Jessica Mackay, a doctoral candidate at the University of Barcelona, Spain, where she also works on a part-time basis.

Applications are also now closed for the scholarship of £250 for an IATEFL Research SIG member wishing to attend our 19 March 2012 Pre-conference event in Glasgow, Scotland, on How to combine teaching and researching: Focus on Learners and Classroom Language Learning'. This scholarship has been awarded to ReSIG member Tahar Assas,  a full-time secondary school teacher in Skikda, Algeria, who is concurrently undertaking a Master's degree at ENS teacher training school in Constantine, Algeria.

Applications are currently possible for one scholarship of up to £250 for any IATEFL Research SIG member who would like to attend David Nunan's 12 May 2012 workshop in Graz, Austria: Introduction to Qualitative Research (Deadline for receipt of applications: 15 February 2012).

The scholarship is £250 wherever the applicant lives, and is to help cover attendance costs  - registration, travel expenses, accommodation and necessary subsistence expenses.

You will be expected to write a report of the event for the RESIG newsletter, and payment will be made against receipts following submission of the report.

If you are interested in applying for either scholarship, please send an email message to us where you introduce yourself and explain:

          • which event you are applying for (you can apply for both, but you must submit two separate applications)
          • your interest in attending the event
          • your institutional status (including whether you have access to institutional support for attending conferences, and whether you are a student, and/or you have a part-time or full-time teaching position)
          • your willingness to write a minimum 800-word reflective report on the workshop, to be published in the newsletter of the IATEFL Research SIG

Please also attach a brief CV with your application.

Reminder : The deadline for receipt of applications for a scholarship to attend the Graz event is 15 February 2012.

We aim to get back to you with our decision one week after the deadline, enabling registration for the event at the cheaper 'early-bird' rate.
