The IATEFL Research SIG is devoted to promoting, supporting and discussing research in English language teaching, including practitioner research. Key concerns for us relate to:
* The nature of research in ELT - What counts as research? What broad approaches to research are available to us?
* Processes of doing research - How do we design a research project? What research methods are available to us?
* Processes of disseminating research - What options are available to us for sharing our work? How can we prepare effective oral presentations of research? How do we go about preparing written accounts of research?
* Evaluating research - How do we judge the value and quality of research?
* The role and relevance of research in the lives of ELT professionals - What role does research (others' and our own) play in the lives of ELT teachers and teacher educators? How can the relevance of research be enhanced?
